Irish people in San Sebastian!

Hi everybody!

I'm writing to tell you that some classmates have done an exchange to Ireland. They spent five days there before Easter, and last week Irish students came here, to San Sebastian. They did many activities all together, such as going to museums, practising local sports al school, visiting the city and going out to have dinner.
I didn't stay too much time with them because I was quite busy, but on Saturday we had dinner all together in the port and I found them very kind. After that, we went clubbing to the Old Part and we danced all night. I talked mainly with two of them because they were my friends' partners and they were very friendly.
One friend and I spoke with an Irish girl called Isabel, and she invited us to go to her house in Ireland this summer, so I think we will spend a week in her town this July.
I hope we will enjoy ourselves and meet new people there to make more friends and improve our English. I'm quite shy so I think it will be interesting to improve it also.
I will write you soon to talk about new experiences!
See you soon!

EASTER HOLIDAY-2

Hi again!

I'm Maddi and I'm going to talk about some experience I had this Easter Holiday. I've been in Badaguas, a small village near Jaca, skiing with my family and a friend called Marina, who is in our class. While we were skiing, we made some friends because we got lost out of the slope. They spoke English so we took advantage for practising the language. They helped us finding the right way to return to the slope where we were at first. Moreover, as we got on well with them, we gave them our telephone numbers and we continue in contact with them.

I've really had a very good time and I want to go again as soon as possible.

EASTER HOLIDAY-1

Hello everybody!
This time is Andrea who writes. I'm going to talk about my holiday and some interesting things I saw about sustainability.  I've spent two weeks in the Canary Island and I've stayed in two NH Hesperia hotels, one in Fuerteventura and another one in Lanzarote. In both of the hotels, in the buffet they have a kind of project called "cork2cork" to protect the environment. They recycle all the corks used in the restaurant to help polluting less and to make a more sustainable world.
Here you can see a picture of the box where they collect them.

Moreover, I've spent a very good time, I've spoken in English in the plane with the flight attendants and I've enjoyed myself a lot with my parents.

See you soon!

VIDEOCONFERENCE WITH INDIA

Hi everyone! As you know we've been working on different NGOs. This time we have had the pleasure of being visited by a very famous NGO called "EMAÚS".

Few days ago,  they came to explain us how they work and what type of help do they give to people who are in extreme poverty. Moreover, they told us that they have a project called "TARA" in India and in this project they try to support fair trade. Fair trade consists in giving fair salaries to workers who made products in bad working conditions.

Last Friday,  some of them came to our school and we had a very interesting conference with a woman who is responsible for the management of the project in India. She answered several questions we made to her, because we wanted to know how are the conditions in a factory in a developing country.

Apart from economical support, the beneficiaries of the programme receive a better education. Moreover, this people are building new health centres for them. They are becoming more environmentally friendly conserving water and avoiding deforestation. Workers can borrow small micro-credits if they need the money to buy a house and things like that.

They support gender equality, and make campaigns against child labour.
The workers have right wages and in this way, they get more confident with themselves.

Taking everything into account, coming up with a conclusion, we think that we have learnt a lot of new things and we are very pleased with their help and the way they explained us the stuff.

Finally, we want to say that we would be very grateful if we could contact with them soon, it has been a really good experience!

We would like to make you aware of the situation there and we would like your help.
If you buy things which have this logo, you will be helping people who work in bad conditions. You will also be contributing in giving them bigger salaries and better working conditions.

 Concern yourself!

See you soon.
